This current-gen BMW X1 is a good car; it’s comfortable, drives better than its looks suggest, and has a nice interior. In these new spy photos, the next-gen BMW X1 looks sportier and more muscular than before. Judging from this admittedly heavily camouflaged test mule, it seems as if BMW is looking to make the X1 a bit more premium.
These digitally rendered images of the next-gen BMW 5-series, which showcase an extremely controversial design. The current-generation BMW 5-Series, was first unveiled back in 2016, and last year, it received a midlife facelift. The next-gen 5-Series is still around two years away from its debut, and no test mules have been spotted yet.
The iX1 will be an all-electric version of the next-generation X1 and will be built on the brand’s second-generation FAAR chassis. Part of the next-gen X1 lineup will be an all-electric version, called the BMW iX1 and these new spy photos show off that very car, wearing heavy camouflage.
The Urus has been a game-changer for Lamborghini since its inception. The automaker’s first SUV is practical and comes with supercar-like performance. While it may compete against the SUV offerings from the uber-luxurious automakers, it faces stiff competition even from vehicles that cost half as much as the Urus. The folks at Throttle House put the Urus against the BMW X6M Competition and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63S. Will the Italian bull beat the Germans?
After watching how things went down between a BMW X6 M Competition and the Lamborghini Urus, it’s time to check out yet another BMW-VAG match-up, this time between the BMW X6 M50i and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. What’s fascinating here is that the Cayenne Turbo uses the same platform as the Urus, but with slightly different specs.
According to this review, the new G80 BMW M3 isn’t just good to drive, it’s great to drive. Lieberman says the new M3 looks more “insectoid” than anything else and it’s hard to disagree. Right off the bat, that gives off an uneasy feeling about the M3, which can turn potential customers off.
Naturally, the ALPINA version – the XB7 – is even better to drive, But what happens when it goes up against a more dynamic, less expensive SUV like the Volkswagen Touareg R? In this new comparison test from Piston Heads, we get to see just that.
The video below pits the new M car against some very interesting cars, two of which being front-wheel drive at their core. The one the M3 Competition has to beat here is, without a doubt, the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio Verde. That’s because the two are the only ones here with rear-wheel drive setups and massive 500 horsepower, six-cylinder engines under the hood, as well as a longer wheelbase.
There may not be a better all-around car in the BMW lineup than the M340i Touring. This specific BMW M340i Touring might be the best looking one we’ve ever seen. In this new video from Joe Achilles, we get to see a brand-new 2021 model year M340i Touring in what could be the absolute perfect spec.
From series production to the racetrack and back: In a new video, BMW M GmbH offers insights into the development of the new BMW M4 GT3 racing car and identifies some fascinating similarities between the new flagship model in the BMW M Motorsport line-up and the BMW M4 Competition production model.
BMW will build a prototype of a solid-state battery car before 2025, joining an accelerating race for a technology that promises to boost the power and range of electric vehicles. The automaker said its researchers are working “intensively” on solid state batteries, calling cell storage the central plank of its electric vehicle shift.
The BMW i4 M Sport celebrates its official world premiere at the Auto Shanghai 2021, along with the iX electric crossover. This is the first time that BMW is showcasing the i4 with an M Sport Package, a preview of the BMW i4 M50. As expected, the i4 gets the typical M Sport bits, starting with an aggressive front bumper complemented by large air curtains. In the back you can also see the sculpted and dynamic diffuser adorned with blue accents, typical to a BMW i car.
All future M electric plans are still further down the road. According to Car Magazine, BMW might be working on a new electric car for its 50th birthday in 2022. The rumored electric vehicle is allegedly called BMW iM2 with a massive electric power – 1000kW. Now that number is quite wild and, frankly, unrealistic.
The new BMW M3 and M4 models now come with all-wheel drive on the Competition versions as standard, and that’s certainly something unique for the two popular sports cars. And certainly, this is a smart move from BMW. It may not be necessary, but if the experience they had with the F90 M5 is anything to go by, it’s a smart move. Therefore, the new M cars now get M xDrive, the same system as the one from the M5.
