Having debuted in late 2019, the 8 Series Gran Coupe isn’t all that old. Early sales of the 8 Series were disappointing, so BMW might be trying to remedy that with a few quick updates. Whether this speedy update will have any bearing on what returns to the 8 Series lineup post-update will be interesting to keep an eye on.
Normally, a BMW M4 wouldn’t really stand a chance against a car like the Nissan GT-R. There’s a reason why the Japanese car is nicknamed Godzilla, and it has nothing to do with where it’s manufactured. Instead, it has a lot more to do with its dominance of everything else on the drag strip, as Nissan managed to make the GT-R the ultimate king of drag races.
The F40 generation of the BMW 1-Series has taken some getting used to. But the essence and textures that made the F20 so good to drive – particularly in M140i flavour – had been well and truly neutered.
Until the BMW M5 CS actually hits the road, the BMW M8 Competition Coupe will maintain its position as the fastest BMW on sale. In this new episode of RATED, from Hagerty, we take a look at the BMW M8 Competition Coupe through the eyes of both a motoring journalist and a racing driver.
No matter what, it’s easy to declare the 2020 BMW M2 CS the best M2 ever. BMW M2 CS is the best sports car Bavaria has built in more than a decade—and maybe ever. It’s the best possible sendoff to both this generation of 2 Series Coupe and the M dual-clutch transmission. What more can you say?
The BMW 540i is a pretty interesting choice for anyone wanting a 6-cylinder 5 Series. As the video below shows, the 540i doesn’t need that much time to reach its electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
The BMW X5 xDrive45e is probably the brand’s best hybrid car, thanks to its combination of size, luxury, power and efficiency. The EPA estimate for the hybrid X5 is 30 miles, but Metcalf has seen 33-46 miles of pure EV power. Even better than that, when the car’s brain is used to determine when to run the engine and when to use EV power, the hybrid X5 gets remarkable fuel economy.
The special models will be built for a year, between March 2022 and 2023, and they will be introduced early next year. The company was founded in May 1972, so we should see the peak of the celebrations (which we imagine could last for the entirety of 2022) taking place in the last month of Spring.
This new render shows off a BMW M3 Competition Touring, with the new Competition-spec wheels and a stunning red paint color. As a whole, the car looks so good I actually forgot to look at the grille initially.
Here is the first sound clip of the M Performance Exhaust system for the new 2021 BMW M3 and M4. The Video also included a comparison clip with the regular exhaust for the 2021 BMW M3 and M4. The M Performance Exhaust system for the new M3 and M4 is the first of its kind.
In the latest video, in a series of videos explaining different aspects of the new BMW M3 and M4, we get to learn about the M Laptimer. All BMW M3 and M4 models with the optional Connected Drive package will get the M Laptimer, which is exactly what it sounds like it is. Essentially, it times your laps and displays your times in either the iDrive screen, the digital gauges, the head-up display or a combination of the three.
The BMW E28 M5 is often credited as the car that laid the foundations for the super saloon era. To understand how all of this is possible it’s necessary to take a trip back to the mid-’80s and where it all began: the E28 M5.
Currently, listed up for sale on Bring A Trailer and located in Austin, Texas, this M6 was acquired by the seller in August 2004 and even though it is 33 years old, it still looks good. Power is provided by a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated inline-six producing 256 hp and 243 lb-ft from the factory.
